The EFI Chip Card can be used for:

  • Fixing corrupted firmware from updates
  • Unlocking EFI password lock (forgotten password)
  • iCloud lock (6 or 4 PIN code/alphanumeric padlock)
  • Solving disabled or locked Macs
  • Removing DEP (Device Enrollment Profile), MDM (Mobile Device Management)

NOTE: Do not use your original serial number if your Mac has MDM or DEP profile.

  • It will NOT remove the operating system password or hard drive password.
  • No soldering skills needed. Just plug in the card and enjoy.
  • You will need to format and reinstall macOS after installing the chip card.
  • We can program your original S/N into the chip. Please add your serial number to the S/N field. Otherwise, the chip will come with a new number.

  • Please select the correct model number. The EMC number is written on the back cover or can be found on this website.

Required Experience:

  • Tools to open your Mac and install the EFI card.
  • Knowledge of how to erase and install a clean version of macOS.
  • Ability to change the system date and time when encountering “Untrusted Cert Title” or similar error messages.
  • Might need to create a USB installer if internet recovery doesn’t work.

– An error occurred validating the installer data. The download is either damaged or incomplete.

– Untrusted_Cert_Title

– Installer error can’t be verified or was signed with a certificate that has expired

EFI Card Location/ Installation

Installation:

1. Disconnect the Mac from power and shutdown. (hold down the power button/ Touch ID for 10 seconds to power off the Mac)

2. Select the model

3. Follow the arrow position to install the EFI Card in the correct direction.

4. Reset the PRAM and install a clean version of macOS (first erase the hard drive and then install the macOS)

5. Done. (Do not remove the card)
